In 2018, a beloved mother and matriarch passed away suddenly from skin cancer. Her departure left a deep silence in a family where she had always been the centre, the steady heart of four generations of proud, resilient women.
“She had a very hard life,” her daughter shared with us. “Growing up on a farm during World War II, she didn’t have much. She buried two husbands and a son. But through it all, Mum never lost her kind heart or her beautiful smile. She was fiercely proud of her family, and incredibly generous with her love.”

For six years, this grieving daughter quietly followed our page, holding onto the idea of creating something special, something that could hold her mother close and pass that connection on to her children and grandchildren.
Finally, she reached out.
She shared with us three beautiful photos: one of her mum alone, one of them together, and one showing all four generations of women—her mum, herself, her daughter, and her granddaughter. “Four generations of strong, proud women,” she wrote. “I hope you can see the beautiful woman my mum was.”
Each piece of memorial jewellery she requested was deeply personal:
A pearl necklace for her daughter, because pearls were what her mother always wore. “She always had two pearls in her ears. My daughter always associates pearls with her Nanna.”
A purple necklace for herself. “I’m known as Nanna Purple to my grandkids,” she explained. “One day I’ll pass the necklace down to my granddaughter, and it’ll hold a double meaning—the ashes of her great Nan, and the favourite colour of her Nanna Purple.”
And finally, a set of black cufflinks for her son to wear on his wedding day. “As I was posting the ashes to you, it struck me that cufflinks would be perfect,” she said. “So his Nanna could be there with him on his special day.”
Not long ago, she sent us photos from that wedding. Her son, standing tall, cufflinks glinting gently in the light—a small but powerful reminder that love doesn’t end, and that even in the moments we move forward, those we’ve lost are still right beside us.

We are so honoured to have been a part of this family’s journey. Thank you for trusting us with her memory.
